April 13, 2019 by recyclelebanon3 hours, 70 scouts, 70 bags, and 37 kilos of waste recovered from the coastal landfills spat out as beach litter and taken for secondary sorting @ziad_abichaker to recycle thru the local Lebanese recycling industry. We must support and grow facilities and change makers, realising we have able, willing, innovative and present home grown solutions, across the country which need scaling. All aside, thousands of tons of municipal solid waste will be dumped back into the sea tonight, tomorrow, and the next day, until we implement a plan and legislation which does not include burning our waste in an incinerator, [neither rdf or pyrolysis plant ] with toxins released into the air, soil, sea and in us. ☠ Take a deep breath. Dark realities and futile looking efforts but non the less an opportunity to clean the environment, reduce consumption, raise awareness and drive commitments to habit shifts. Take away points: End coastal landfilling, implement sustainable swm, stop the incinerators, redesign products designed to waste and build upon a #circulareconomy 🌱 #supportlocal #systemchange #breakfreefromplastic #zerowaste #BalaPlastic #RegenerateLebanon #lebanon #visitlebanon #brandaudit #climatechange
