Bittersweet goodbye - in spite of all the hard instaglaming, traveling around Lebanon was eye-opening.
I need to nuance the pretty-picture posting and #livelovelebanon rosiness and point out that today, trash continues to pile up on top of the XYZ billion problems the country is facing.
While trash collection may resume in Beirut - getting rid of it remains an issue. Throughout the country, people are burning piles of trash; creating a health and environmental hazard; & with a government clearly taking no accountability for the problem, nor working cohesively to find an appropriate solution.
So to Lebanese politicians: what really damages the tourism industry and hurts the economy? Not protests -- Garbage, corruption & trashy politics
