May 03, 2019 by mylebanonOn arrival, the waste on the rocks seem present but scarce. Who knew we could collect this much litter in a small strip? 375 kg of chips bags, snack wrappers, cigarettes, straws, juice carton drinks, glass and canned beverages, tuna tins, bottled water and even a lost xray scan ...lies beneath the rocks, in the crevices and left to fly by the wayside. Much of it rejectables. 🍃 Current state of mind: "You never know what lurks just beneath the surface of my fragile sanity. " #AshlyLorenzana. 🌱 But a note from #MotherEarth may read: "Close the tap! Product re-design is key to glocal #systemchange." Of course it is insane to be in this looping destruction and futile to think cleaning up or recycling is a full solution, especially as the waste will return tonight in romantic and friendly rendezvous munching away in packaged and toxic products while coastal land filling and incineration builds on... but we have to clean up and raise awareness while tackling a mix of holistic measures, as we do. ♻️ Thanks to today's volunteers and Municipality of Dbayeh's support, we cleaned up the Marina Rocks and raised awareness about #balaplastic, eco and #baladialternatives to transition towards #zerowaste tackling product and system redesign. #breakfreefromplastic #lebanon #visitlebanon #climatechange #cleanseas #ecodesign #extinctionrebellion
