If its start day is clear: April 13, 1975, its end date is a bit murkier: the Taif agreements of 1989 paved the way to the end of hostilities, though fighting, assassinations and massacres continued throughout 1990. Another staggering number is the amount Lebanese militias received in outside assistance : $30 billion: it’s double the amount they managed to raised themselves and more than 10 times(!) the official GDP of the country in 1989! Just as a reminder, it is estimated that 150,000 died during the war, 300,000 were injured, 17,000 disappeared , and 1 million migrated. ----- 🇫🇷 Saviez-vous qu’il y a eu 12 tentatives pour cesser la guerre civile qui a dĂ©vastĂ© le Liban durant 15 ans? Et cela sans mĂŞme compter les plus petites amorces pour rĂ©gler le conflit! Les accords de TaĂ«f en 1989 ont amorcĂ© le dĂ©but de la fin des hostilitĂ©s, mĂŞme s’il faudra attendre fin 1990 pour que les combats s’arrĂŞtent vraiment. La guerre, c’est aussi 30 milliards de dollars qui auraient Ă©tĂ© versĂ©s par l’étranger aux milices pour qu’elles se battent, soit le double de ce qu’elles avaient rĂ©ussi Ă  lever elles-mĂŞmes et plus de 10 fois le PIB du pays en 1989! Bien sĂ»r c’est sans oublier les 150 000 personnes dĂ©cĂ©dĂ©es dans ce conflit, les 300 000 blessĂ©s, les 17 000 estimĂ©s disparus et le million de Libanais poussĂ© Ă  l’exil.
