July 14, 2015 by amanda_abi_khalil#TemporaryArtPlatform is working on an open #database/inventory of #artworks, #art projects that were installed or took place in outdoor (outside the physical walls of art institutions) public or private spaces with public view in Lebanon for as long as we can trace these practices. This inventory will serve as a basis for a #research and lobbying project we are developing with lawyer and attorney Nayla Geagea, on the aesthetics and history of art in public sphere in #Lebanon focusing on the administrative and legal framework for carrying art projects in the #public realm. Please visit our website to know more this project: www.temporaryartplatform.com We have compiled around fifty interesting case-studies so far but cannot pretend to having covered this topic exhaustively. If you are an artist and have carried out a project in public space commissioned by an institution or NGO, or on your own initiative please contact us (you might already be on our database, in this case we will verify the information we have). Also, if you have tried to carry out a project or install an artwork in public space that was made impossible because of administrative, legal or political reasons, your story is precious to us!! Soon, very soon, as soon as we have enough substantial material (and some funding please!) this ongoing database will go online and it will be much easier for you to interact with it. We are starting with these categories: -Public sculptures -Installations (permanent and temporary) -Projects on billboards or banners -Murals, drawings on wall, graffiti, stencils etc. -Performances including sound, projections, multimedia (not concerts nor street theatre) -Interventions (all forms)
