The Great Phoenician Trench of Anfeh once a dry dock where different kinds... (Anfeh Al-Koura أنفه الكورة) The Great Phoenician Trench of Anfeh once a dry dock where different kinds of ships were built. Later used by Crusaders as a protection barrier separating the Castle of Nephin they established on the seashore from the rest of the peninsula. Remains from at least 3,000 years of human occupation lie tangled among the myrtle and brambles of this 400 meter long and 120m wide peninsula. It is partially separated from the land by two great trenches-dug into the bedrock during the Crusader period. While Enfeh has witnessed only minor excavation, Phoenician and Roman walls, wine presses, mosaic floors, and two seventh-century-A.D. chapels lie bare beneath the intense sun and wind.. . . . .πŸ“The Great Phoenician Trench, Anfeh, Northern Lebanon πŸ‡±πŸ‡§. . . . #anfeh #anpi #nephin #lebanon #levant #mediterranean #sea #mare #trench #phoenician #phoenicia #explore #adventure #travel #viaggio #voyage #reisen #wanderlust #travelphotography #travelstoke #agameoftones #lensbible #theimaged #artofvisuals #visualambassadors #bleachmyfilm #bokeh #travelphotography #worldcaptures #heatercentral #earthpix
