View of the hermitage from the Kfour - Hardin trail
It was Good Friday, and people were joining the prayers from all the northern villages around Hardine, it was winter cold and the winds were strong, reminding us of the day Jesus was crucified
We took the foot trail from Niha-Batroun to Hardin village
It was a 45 minutes hard climb and via ferrata through the fortress-like cliff
First Maronites in Lebanon fled the tyranny in Syria, to the holy valley of qannoubine, and lived in the northern mountains of Lebanon, including the forbidding unreachable cliffs of this village
Hardin nowadays is the hometown of the Blessed Beloved Saint Neemtallah Kassab and is still swarming with natural caves, a roman temple (as old as Baalbek ruins), an old hidden monastery, and a record of thirty sanctuaries and churches built in the stone
