May 02, 2019 by mountainsoflebanonMay 3rd is Philip the Apostle’s Feast day (for western calendar). Local legend has it that when JesusChrist visited the land of current Lebanon, the first person he met was Philippos The name has French and spanish connotation, but it does go back to the greek and eastern Mediterranean coast! the greek meaning is the lover/friend of Horses. Philip, Philippe, Felippe, Foulib, Philippus... It is interesting to note as well that the apostle does not have any church or shrine in Lebanon! This statue is one of twelve others of the Apostles at the Akoura Shrine on top of a steep cliff. #religioustourism #12apostles #stonestatues #mythsandlegends #apostles #livelovelebanon #lebanon #akoura
