The Great Courtyard at the Acropolis of Baalbek, the worshippers would... (Baalbek , Roman Temple , Lebanon)
April 28, 2017 by the_adventures_of_ricardo_roryThe Great Courtyard at the Acropolis of Baalbek, the worshippers would have stopped here before they could enter the Temple of Jupiter. It is a pretty great court indeed, it is 135 meters wide and 113 meters long. On three sides - north, east, and south - the Great Court is surrounded by porticoes. On the remaining side, in the west, was the majestic staircase leading to the shrine of Jupiter. On the quad between the porticoes were two basins, two tower-altars, and two free-standing columns. The two tower-altars were in fact platforms on which the sacrifices were performed. #GreatCourtyard #Baalbek #Baalbeck #BaalbekRuins #BaalbeckRuins #BekaaValley #TempleOfJupiter #Lebanon #Libanon #Libnan #Lebanon🇱🇧 #VisitLebanon #ig_lebanon #whatsuplebanon #lebanontimes #insta_lebanon #livelovebeirut #lebanonspotlights #livelovelebanon #beautifullebanon #lebanoninapicture #nationalart #super_lebanon #lebaneseview_ #lebanonhouses #ptk_lebanon
