December 10, 2018 by meetlebanonThe Nubian ibex is a desert-dwelling goat species found in mountainous areas of #Lebanon 🇱🇧 ,Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Yemen. It is historically considered to be a subspecies of the Alpine ibex, but is increasingly considered a specifically distinct species. For 100 years this beauty was considered extinct from Lebanon until recent efforts by wild life lovers who managed to get it back to the Lebanese Nature 💚🇱🇧💚 great thanks to the Lebanese wild life photographer @philip_ayoub @lens_wildlife_nature for highlighting on this 💚🇱🇧💚 The 3rd, 4th and 5th photos show the sambar deer which is a large deer native to the Indian subcontinent, southern China, and Southeast Asia that is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 2008. Populations have declined substantially due to severe hunting, insurgency, and industrial exploitation of habitat. These amazing creatures are taking refuge in Lebanon under the protection of the the wild life lovers.
